EMDR Therapy
What is EMDR?
EMDR Therapy can help you to resolve painful memories from the past. After these difficult memories are resolved, feelings of calm and safety rather than physical and emotional disturbance are the goal for treatment.
EMDR can also help you reduce stress, increase confidence, and feel more positively about yourself and your future.
How does EMDR Work?
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based practice that has been shown to effectively decrease or eliminate the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, and Depression.
Research has shown that EMDR can be a rapid and effective treatment for individuals and was originally developed to treat the physical and emotional effects of trauma.
EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing event or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy allows the brain to resume its natural healing process through bilateral stimulation (BLS) of the brain. BLS forms may include eye movements, tapping, buzzers, audio, or other methods to “tap in” to neural networks impacting physical and emotional symptoms.
